
Nigerian broadcaster and sports commentator, George Iniabasi Essien ,has officially earned a place in the Guinness World Records for hosting the longest marathon radio talk show ever recorded.
The historic broadcast lasted an astounding 105 hours and was held from April 27 to May 1, 2025, at a radio studio in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The feat was officially confirmed and published on the Guinness World Records website, earning Essien global recognition.
Popularly known as “Mighty George,” Essien is a seasoned media professional whose career spans various roles including radio host, sports journalist, compere, blogger, voice-over artist, and media consultant. Over the years, he has worked with prominent stations such as Brila FM, Max FM, Aso Radio, and Comfort 95.1 FM.
This latest achievement makes him the first Nigerian to hold the record for the longest marathon hosting of a radio talk show, a landmark moment for both Uyo and Nigeria in the global broadcasting scene.
